Monoeye Mech by MikeDoscher Monoeye Mech by MikeDoscher

Well, there was this speedpaint that turned into a color study that turned into a design study on updating 80s-style Shoji Kawamori mechs that turned into a strange sort of tribute to model box art from the 70s and then it turned into uh, this.

It’s also an experiment with selective detail. I’ll get back to ‘Spacecraft of the First World War’ soon, but I wanted to clear out a piece or two from my backlog. I’m tempted to make a fake model box from this.

As I'm staring at this again, noticing the thumbnails in the 'more like..'-section, you don't happen to be playing MechWarrior Online, do ya?

No, I'm afraid I don't. I very much enjoy flyingdebris's work on the franchise, but it's not quite where I'm at right now. (Honestly, I can't seem to find too much time for games these days. =/)

And I'm tempted to make that model, actually.

Don't celebrate too early, I still owe you the coloring of that drill ship I promised you about four years ago.

To be fair, I'm always celebrating. I blame Vegas.

Well, I better get myself a good source for kitbashing components then..and dig out that drillship.

I was thinking in terms of an inversion of the names on two Model boxes, two brands that I have used in the past to make quite a few tanks : Tamiya and Italieri.

Just so they would not get too much free publicity.

At any rate, I love your speedpaints, wether they end up as fake model box art or not.

I have some Japanese books and magazines from that era with those mechs and a lot of box art paintings of them, so I'm happy to see you doing this. :)

You know, the guy in front of the mech has the chillest posture for someone looking down a scope on a shoulder-mounted rail-gun. Even if he is just looking around. Even the guy next to him is admiring the sheer size of his balls.

No comprende. I'm guessing this is from an anime I haven't seen.
