I've decided to take a different and (hopefully) more original approach to the idea of very small tanks for the short I'm working on. It's easier to show than tell, so I put up a short clip on Google. The animation is pretty rough still, especially on the figure, but I should have that cleaned up shortly. Just thought I'd show everyone what I was working on.

I kinda like that double joint design that connects both legs on the same side to separate joints. It would be the more desirable mobile vehicle, giving it the ability to not only move forward and backwards with ease but also the ability to change direction to left or right very quickly.

I like the ending animation of the tank, character animation is a little slow in timing. Also, in the beginning when the tank comes in it would be nice to see a little follow through i guess you could say, so it doesn't come to a dead stop. As for the modeling and idea, amazing job, I love it :D.

Yeah, I found myself really fighting Biped for the character animation. I was using a messy mix of FK and IK and I think I'll probably end up completely redoing the character animation. Likewise, there's a barricade it'll be climbing over near the end. Ehhh... got a lot of work to do on it heheh.

Thanks for the critique. :)

That is very cool. I love the sketches. Makes me think of works by Doug Chiang. The detail looks painstaking.
