I see the cannon-like weapon has a drum magazine, but where is the ammo for the left arm? Is it hidden behind that shield-like piece of metal?

Kind of. The gun on the left arm is an MG34 fitted with a pneumatic cocking device. It feeds from an assault drum mounted inboard, just in front of the elbow. As the 50 rounds this held wouldn't give much in the way of sustained fire, a belt fitted to something bigger below the arm would make more sense. In the end, they wanted something a little smaller and more like power armor.
